What Are You Saying?

Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV) So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

What are you saying? Jesus tells us to believe that the things we say will come to pass. "I'm broke", I'm coming down with something." "It's always something." "I'm sick and tired." "I can't win for losing." "I can't never get ahead." Do any of these sound familiar? You may think these statements are harmless, but words are powerful. They are conatiners that can carry fear and hate or love and faith. As children of God, we want our words to carry love and faith. We want our words to build and to edify.

Every word that comes out of your mouth has the power to bring life or they can bring destruction. Your words can work for you or they can work against you. I don't know about you, but I want to have the abundant life that God promised me. So I refuse to speak doom and gloom. I refuse to have a negative confession.

I challenge you today, listen to yourself. Pay attention to what you've been saying. If you realize that you've been speaking things contrary to Word of God, then you need to train yourself to speak faith-filled words. It's time to change your vocabulary. It's time to discipline your speech. Start by feeding on the Word of God daily. Immerse yourself in the Word and you will see that as you fill up on the truth of what God's Word says about you, your mouth will begin to line up with the will of God. And when those negative thoughts try to make their way to your mouth, your spirit man will be strong enough to control your tongue.
