Dream Again

Have you ever experienced a season in life where God moves so powerfully that it almost feels unreal? Psalm 126 captures this for me. The emotion of people who had been bound, burdened, and broken and suddenly they find themselves restored by the hand of God.

Psalm 126:1 When the Lord brought back the captives [who returned] to Zion, we were like those who dream [it seemed so unreal]. (AMPC)

Have you ever prayed for something so long that when God finally begins to answer, it almost feels impossible to believe? That is the kind of restoration Psalm 126 describes. God brought His people out of captivity and into freedom, and their response was laughter, joy, and worship.

If you think about it, some of us have experienced captivity in different ways:

  • captivity to fear

  • disappointment

  • grief

  • delay

  • shame

  • exhaustion

  • stinkin' thinkin'

But God is still the One who restores.

The beautiful thing about this Psalm is that it reminds us that restoration is not only about what God did then, but it is also about what He is still doing right now.

Psalm 126:4 “Restore our fortunes, O Lord…”

Sometimes restoration happens suddenly. Other times, it happens little by little like, but either way, God knows what He's doing and how to bring life back to what felt empty.

Verses 5–6 give this powerful promise:

”They who sow in tears shall reap in joy and singing. He who goes forth bearing seed and weeping [at needing his precious supply of grain for sowing] shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Like I always say, nothing is wasted. Your tears were not wasted. Your prayers were not ignored. Your obedience in hard seasons mattered. Every seed planted in faith, every prayer, every act of obedience, every moment you chose to trust God while hurting, is producing a harvest you cannot fully see yet.

The scripture says that the same person who walked out weeping with seed will return rejoicing with sheaves in hand.

What does that mean to you? That means:

  • sorrow is not your final season

  • waiting is not permanent

  • God can bring joy even out of painful places

  • what was planted in brokenness can bloom in blessing - Hallelujah!!!!

The Lord has done great things for us and guess what??? MORE IS TO COME!!!!

Reflection Questions:

  1. What area(s) of your life are you believing God to restore?

  2. What seeds have you continued to sow even through tears?

  3. How can you choose hope again in this season?

Pray With Me:

Father, thank You for being the God who restores. Thank You that no tear, prayer, or seed sown in faith is wasted. Breathe life into my dry places and renew hope where discouragement has settled in. Help me to trust You even while I wait for the harvest. Fill my mouth with laughter again and my heart with joy. I believe You are still doing great things in me, for me, and through me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Declare Today:

“I will not lose heart. The seeds I have sown in tears will produce a harvest of joy. God is restoring, renewing, and bringing me into a season of rejoicing.”
