Focus on Him

Romans 11:33-36 (MSG)

Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God,

this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out.

Is there anyone around who can explain God? Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do? Anyone who has done him such a huge favor that God has to ask his advice? Everything comes from him; Everything happens through him; Everything ends up in him. Always glory! Always praise! Yes. Yes. Yes.

C. S. Lewis wrote that a car is made to run on gas and it won't run properly on anything else. Likewise, God made us to run on Him. He is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn and the food our spirits were designed to feed on. So if we try to live this life apart from God, we will break down, fall apart, and run dry.

Stop looking at what you have or what you don't have and turn your focus on the Lord. Focus on Him and His sufficiency, then you can't help but praise Him that He is your life.

Praise God today and every day , because praise frees you from wasting your energy on trying to figure out how each circumstance in your life is a part of God's plan. Through praising and thanking God, you rest in the unknown and the unseen. You do this not because you can figure out the specfic whys or hows, but because you trust His love and His wisdom.

Lord, I am blessed because I walk according to Your word. You have laid down precepts for me to obey, and my ways will be steadfast in obeying Your ways. I will praise You with an upright heart as I obey Your decrees, and You will never forsake me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
