You Have the Power
During the month of February, we will add a new devotion every day. I will extract some things from the Book of John that I think will encourage and strengthen you during this time of fasting and prayer that we have set aside at New Life.
Today we are going to look at John 1:12-13: “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”.
The moment you received Christ you were given by God the power to become someone you weren’t before that moment. The life you once live you no longer have to live. That word power is the Greek word {exousia}, which means authority, right to control or govern dominion. For the first time in your life, you now have what you need to take authority over your life. You no longer have to remain a victim of circumstance; you can now chart the course to the destiny that God has planned for you from the foundation of the world.
If your life doesn’t look the way you expected it to look, then change it. You have the power. Being born again we know that God’s mercies are new every morning. As such, we can arise with hope and expectancy, knowing that God is at work in and through us to overcome darkness with light, sickness with health, doubt with faith, poverty with prosperity, and bondage with freedom.
