He Died for Your Sins, but He Was Beaten for Your Sickness

Scripture: Isaiah 53:5

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

The cross addresses more than forgiveness, it reveals the full scope of Christ’s redemption. Jesus died for our sins, settling the debt we could never repay. But before the cross, there was the beating. Before it was finished, healing was secured.

The suffering of Jesus was intentional. Every stripe carried a purpose. Sin required atonement, and sickness required a cure. At the cross, Jesus dealt with guilt. At the whipping post, He dealt with disease. Redemption was not partial; it was complete!

Many believers live confident in forgiveness but uncertain about healing. Yet Scripture makes no separation. The same Savior who forgives sin is the same Savior who restores bodies, minds, and broken places. Healing is not something God added later, noooo, it was woven into the work of Christ from the very beginning.

I don’t know about you, but for me, this is the best news. This truth invites us to shift our posture. We don’t have to beg for healing as outsiders; we receive it as children. We don’t approach God hoping He might heal; we approach Him believing He already paid for it. It’s our choice to accept or reject.

Healing may manifest instantly or unfold over time, but its source is the same: THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS! When sickness speaks loudly, we must anchor ourselves to what the cross has already declared: “and by His stripes we are healed.”

Reflection Question:

Where have I accepted forgiveness but hesitated to trust God for healing?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for bearing my sin and my sickness. Thank You that nothing was left undone. Help me to believe, receive, and stand on the truth of Your finished work. I choose faith over fear and trust over doubt. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
