My Morning Song

Updated: Jan 6

Psalm 145:1–3

I will exalt You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever.

Every day I will bless You,

And I will praise Your name forever and ever.

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;

And His greatness is unsearchable.

Praise Is a Choice; It’s Intentional

Psalm 145 opens with a powerful declaration from David. His declaration is not a reaction to circumstances, but a decision of the heart. “I will exalt you… I will praise Your name forever and ever.” This is intentional worship. David isn’t waiting for the right mood, he’s not waiting for the right outcome, or the right season. No, he chooses praise as a daily posture.

As it is with us; in a world that constantly pulls our attention toward what’s wrong, praise realigns us; it recenters us on who God is. Praise isn’t denial; it’s agreement with THE TRUTH.

A Lifestyle of Worship

David says, Every day I will praise you.” That phrase challenges us. So, not just on the good days, not just at church on Sundays. But every day.

Daily praise reshapes our perspective. It reminds us that God’s faithfulness doesn’t fluctuate with our feelings. We may be up and down but never His faithfulness. When we bless God consistently, we rewire our mind to not react to what’s going on out there, but to respond with faith.

God’s Greatness Is Beyond Measure

I love verse 3, it lifts our eyes even higher: “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” God’s greatness is not limited by our understanding. We can study Him, experience Him, and walk with Him and still, His greatness is incomprehensible to man. No one can fathom. No one can measure, No one can ever reach the edge of who He is.

This is actually good news because it means there’s always more grace to discover, more mercy to receive, more wonder to behold. Our praise will never be exhausted because God’s greatness never is. Hallelujah!

Praise shifts atmospheres. Praise strengthens faith. Praise magnifies God above every challenge we face. So, my brothers and sisters, let Psalm 145:1-3 be a part of your morning song. Open your mouth and praise the King forever and ever. Amen.

Reflection:

Take a moment today to lift your heart in praise. Whether through prayer, worship, or gratitude, choose to exalt God, exalt the King; not just today, but every day.

Prayer:

Father, as I opened my eyes this morning I opened my heart as well. I welcome Your presence into this day before anything else enters. I lift up a praise because You are already on the throne.

I thank You for life. I thank You for breath. I thank You for the privilege of a new morning, soaked in Your mercy. You woke me up for a reason. This day was written into existence by Your loving hands and even though I don't yet know what it holds, I know the One Who does. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
